Two Sheetzucacapoopoo books by Joy Behar: Max Goes to the Dogs and Sheetzucacapoopoo: My Kind of Dog

THE VIEW’S JOY BEHAR’S  follow-up to her New York Times bestseller Sheetzucacapoopoo: My Kind of Dog, Max is off to doggy day care. And while the lovable Shih tzu/cocker spaniel/poodle puppy is initially reluctant to leave the comfort of home for the rigors of obedience school, Max finds that school can be fun . . . especially when all dogs big and small learn to get along! From Publisher: Dutton Juvenile (March 19, 2009)

Comedian and talk-show host Joy Behar has teamed up with illustrator Gene Barretta to create a feisty, lovable character in this cheerful, funny picture book. When Max the mixed-breed meets a pack of snobby purebred dogs in the dog run, he can’t understand why they don’t want to play with him and his mongrel friends. Determined to get everyone to play together, brainy Max—who is part poodle, after all—comes up with a way to break the ice between the mixed-breeds and the purebreds. America’s current obsession with designer dogs makes this book as timely as it is lively.  Book Description from Publisher: Dutton Juvenile (September 21, 2006)

Joy is the owner two mutts, she thought she was buying two Shih Tzus “But there’s nothing Shih Tzu about them,” (Gracie & Tallulah) and a cat that weighs as much as the dog,” says Behar. “Benito (her cat) likes to wake me up out of a dead sleep at 5 in the morning.”

Gracie, Tallulah and Benito roam the house as if it were their own.  She says despite what dog trainers say about letting your dog sleep in bed, her dogs are always welcome. “You can always find an marriage counselor that says ‘don’t let your husband in bed.” Animal Radio® Show August 28, 2010
