ROXIE’S CAVALIER RESCUE

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue is one of my priorities — seeing I’m a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.   Cavaliers are wonderful, loving, and loyal  like me. (click on picture below for details).

Maggie: Sweet, but shy/timid, loves to snuggle

Meet Maggie, a beautiful 4 year old Cavalier. In September, she was found alone in the woods of Missouri, frightened and sick. When she first came into foster care, it was very obvious she had never been handled with love. … Maggie needs a home with someone who is home most of the time, can go to work with you, or someone that will allow her to never be crated. From experience, she does not do well in a crate alone.  She is doggie door trained and very much enjoys being outside, especially to catch bugs! This has become her favorite past time. Maggie is a great snuggler and sneaks in kisses on occasion. She walks well on a leash

Sweet Lizzy in Central Iowa: 

5 year old Sweet Lizzie is a recent release from an AKC breeder who is retiring from the business due to poor health. She was one of the breeding females, and was bred on the property and has lived there her entire life. Lizzie is inquisitive and loves to investigate outside, but sticks close to her human. She likes other dogs, but isn’t dependent on them

 Due to unfortunate circumstances (usually their owners have become too ill to look after them) they have ended up in foster care and are up for adoption. The foster care volunteers are very kind , compassionate people who are very carefully screened. If you aren’t looking for a dog right now but want to do something very nice you could give a donation( any amount is appreciated) to this organization.  Your donation goes for medical attention etc.(because the cavaliers that end up in foster care are usually older and are in need of medical attention, special diet etc).

The R.E.A.D.((Reading Education Assistance Dogs ) Program is one of the programs of the several dog therapy programs  that the The Westminster Kennel Club’s Charity Angel on A Leash uses.  In fact,  The R.E.A.D.(Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program was featured  on national television right before the Westminster Kennel Club’s Best in Show competition on February 8th, 2004. MEET THOMAS
FROM CAVALIER  RESCUE TO READING EDUCATION ASSISTANCE DOG(R.E.A.D)

After rescuing Thomas from Cavalier Rescue U.S.A. Marjorie Thomas’s new mom wanted Thomas to become a therapy dog.  Since Marjorie is a reading specialist she wanted Thomas to help struggling readers to read better and he does.  Thomas passed all his tests to meet the special requirement to beccome a R.E.A.D.(Reading Education Assistance Dog). There are several videos demonstrating this program on My Name Is Roxie’s Family and Dog Issues: CHILDREN READING TO DOGS = R.E.A.D.(Reading Education Assistance Dogs)(Videos and Links)
